This morning I received email messages from Jim and Sharon saying that John had passed away. He was able to attend our 40th reunion at Jim and Linda’s home despite being quite ill. John will be sadly missed.

John A. Collar Jr.
KittanningJohn A. Collar Jr., 57, of Kittanning, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Kittanning to John A. Sr. and Dorothy (McClafferty) Collar.
He was a 1966 graduate of Elderton High School and a graduate of the New Castle Business College.
He previously worked for financial companies.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army.
He was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Catholic Church in Kittanning. He was a member of the Kittanning VFW.
Survivors include his mother of Kittanning; one daughter, Rhonda Lynch and husband Chad of Surprise, Ariz.; one grandson, Jasper Lynch of Surprise; and one sister, Linda L. Bowser and husband Dick of Brookville.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died Jan. 13, 1997; and one brother, Rick Collar, who died May 11, 1986.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, Inc., 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Church in Kittanning, with his pastor, the Rev. Emil Payer, officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
